Cheap Parrot Food

What is the most important vegetables and fruit for my birds? 10 points best answer!?
I have been feeding my finches and parrots a mix of apples, broccoli, broccoli stalks, carrot, and sometimes peelings of cucumber and peas and corn. I live in a large family, so I share vegetables with my family. Can anyone tell me what are the most important, and hopefully cheapest foods I can give my birds? And also, are frozen foods as good? AND (sorry) are beetroot ok for birds?
Salad greens (excluding iceberg lettuce and spinach)
- romaine lettuce
- kale
- dandilion
etc. The stuff you find in those pre-mixed tubs.
This is the healthiest type of food of all.
Broccoli is EXCELLENT.
Beans are healthy, as are peas.
Thawed frozen is ok in a pinch.
Cooked yam, cooked squash.
A bit of carrot is ok, but carrot has a lot of natural sugar and sugar = calories.
Corn is just empty calories, and fattening. Don’t feed corn.
I wouldn’t really bother much with fruit, too much sugar.
Veggies are far denser nutritionally than fruits.
