About Robert McMahon

 Robert McMahon grew up in Rhode Island and graduated from the University of Notre Dame. After thirteen years working as an illustrator in New York City, primarily in black & white, he turned to painting. His work has been exhibited in galleries from Connecticut to California.

The artist believes that a painting should be understandable in the way that a poem is understandable, but it should remain a mystery at its deepest level. A gallery owner once remarked that his work 'looks realist but feels surrealist'.

Robert won a Screenplay Discovery award from the Hollywood Film Festival in 2002.

He currently divides his time between Narragansett, Rhode Island and his studio in Brooklyn, New York.
