Brooklyn

Larger View

This is a building on the corner of 7th Avenue and 2nd Street in Park Slope, Brooklyn, about a block from my studio. In reality, it is faded, shuttered, and shabby - practically a ruin. The shadow on its facade is cast by the public school across the street.

It was painted after Nancy's death. Inevitably, it's a portrait of melancholy, solitude, and loss. The saving grace - for the picture and for my life - lies in the joy of oil paint and its lush, vivid color.

Brooklyn is available as a limited edition giclee-on-canvas print at 32 x 48 inches. Please contact the artist for further information.
